:: project
The idea of the project came during the Contura 2008 Swiss National Jamboree when a Swiss scout told me about his passion for black cats. I was searching for a good theme for a new project, and superstition seemed like a good field to be explored.
I presented my idea to the scouts back home and to some of my friends from Poland, and they said it would be great to make such a project together. We started searching for partners, and in the same time creating the design of the project itself, so we could apply for European money from the Youth in Action Programme. The partners we found were scouts from France and Bulgaria, and the biggest surprise was that the leaders of the Bulgarian group were actually common friends of the Polish and Romanian leaders.
We applied with our project on the 1st of April round, and in the second half of May we found out that it was approved. In 4 countries some people were very, very happy that day.
On the 17th of July one leader and one participant from each country came to Bucharest for almost 3 days to discuss the program and preparations of the project during the Advance Planning Visit. We made some last minute changes in the program, we discussed about the trips of the groups and some other details, and we went back home to prepare the last finishing touches. On the 1st of August we all met in Salatruc School Camp to find out all we could about superstitions.
The result of our work can be seen on this web-site. We all hope that this first international on-line superstition dictionary will soon become a little encyclopedia with the help of every visitor that knows a superstition that we've missed.
